Company History
Foothills Industries operations began in 1972 with (3) Staff Members serving approximately (35) Consumers.
In 2011 there were (54) employees and we serve over (190) Consumers annually.
| 1972 | Foothills Industries began operating, under the auspices of Foothills Area Program, in the old Glenwood School Facility |
| 1977 | A corporation was formed in order to borrow monies for a new facility |
| 1978 | A new 8,000 square foot facility was constructed and began operations at 312 Lukin Street |
| 1986 | Constructed a 10,000 square foot building to house a new Adult Developmental Vocational Program |
| 1988 | Added a 1,200 square foot office addition |
| 1991 | Separated from Foothills Area Program and became a private, non-profit operation |
| 1989 | Added 4,400 square feet to existing building to expand medical drape production |
| 1993 | The program became accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) |
| 1995 | A 9,600 square foot, free-standing warehouse was completed |
| 2004 | Received 11 acres from McDowell County and began construction of a 40,000 square foot facility in the county’s industrial park |
| 2004 | Received 510(k) Certificate from the Food and Drug Administration to market non-sterile drapes and utility covers |
| 2005 | In November, moved into a new facility at 300 Rockwell Drive |
| 2006 | Assumed operation of the former McDowell Opportunities (Adult Developmental Vocational Program) |
| 2006 | Expanded Medical Drape production by partnering with the MARC Custom Medical Products (MCMP) Initiative |
| 2007 | Awarded SHARP Safety recognition by N.C. Department of Labor as one of approximately 100 in the state |
| 2011 | ISO 13485 Registered |
